I have heard the last one before about “it will still be there” I like it how they can really take the trick and end by brining your act back to reality.

Love watching your videos, have helped me re-connect with magic after way to many years (was still in school when I stopped giving it the time it needed).
And my favourite gag has to be condom machine. Could use that myself.
    Keep up the amazing videos!

Airplane gag:  When boarding if the co-piolot or another officer–this doesn’t really work with flight attendants–is greeting passengers ask, “Can I sit near a window?”  The response will vary depending on the individual and delivery.  I use one that makes me sound like a first time flyer.  Follow up their response with, “Oh great.  If it gets stuffy I want to be able to open the window to get some fresh air.”  I like the last card gag about putting the card under the pillow.  I’ve used it before, but it’s been awhile.

Great stuff here Jay. As you know from some of my past comments. I love comedy. And you incorporate it so well in your routines. One of the biggest reasons you’re one of my favorites for sure. The sharpie has to be my favorite. With it always being right there. Always seems to get the laugh. And it can work well for misdirection. As always, thanks again Jay and keep the great content coming.

Love the condom gag. That line you said at the beginning about the invisible deck and having a spectator shuffle it is good, i do a variation where I just tell them to keep it. Good for a chuckle

The rubber glove was my favorite, I actually laughed out loud at it. For a card to balloon routine, I think that would be killer. Also, lets people’s guard down a bit. My 2nd favorite would be the lint in pocket – it is ‘clean’ (unlike the glove) for certain audiences and ALSO gives you an excuse to reach into your pocket (potentially with both hands, one palms something other is getting the lint ball). Good recommendations.
Also, something I took to heart – there’s a good chance you might be the first (or one of few) close up magicians the audience has ever seen, so don’t be afraid to try something you think is boring or overused – to the audience it might be brand new.

I love the mint one because a lot of people mistake it in real life too 😂 the under the pillow one would be very easy because you don’t need extra props. So want to use it next time!
The most difficult for me is the watch one because I can’t riff the deck properly, but it could just be my over used deck 😊

Wow…these were all hilarious. I’m always trying to find new ways to throw in jokes or make people laugh when I do some magic for them. I’m constantly telling jokes and funny stories to my co-workers. So seeing this video absolutely made my day. Never seen any of these gags before, but I would have to say the marker was my favorite. Just the idea of having a magician take a huuuge drag on a marker in the middle of a routine is so crazy and hilarious. I’ll definitely be incorporating some of these into my magic. Thanks so much, Jay!

I like the paper bag gag the best because it will also give the person sitting beside you a laugh. It is a good way to make friends with the person sitting next to you on the plane by doing a little joke to make them laugh. Thank you Jay for the great magic and gags!😃

I really liked the winding of the watch bit. I tend to “wind” the deck, but it’s more out in the open. It does get a good laugh. Your variation is great.

Very funny stuff! My favorite is the gum in the lint. This fits my style perfectly. I love awkward tension. Back in October I was asked to perform some magic at work for the director of our information systems department. It was her birthday and she LOVES magic. I had my set all worked out and ready to go but I needed something to create that little bit of awkward tension but I was having trouble coming up with something new. To my surprise here comes Jay Sankey to my rescue. Jay, you uploaded a video days before my performance and in that video you told a really lame joke about a slug getting mugged by two turtles. I laughed my head off and decided this was what I needed to create that tension in my set. So, I elaborated on the joke and told it as if it was something I had actually witnessed while eating my lunch at the park. I did not tell it as a joke but as a real life experience. The response was better than I imagined. Half of the audience laughed their heads off…after about 15 seconds. The other half sat there in silent puzzlement trying to imagine a slug being mugged by two turtles. One girl suddenly blurted out, “wait, is he serious?” To which the entire audience erupted in laughter. It was great! Like I said, I love creating that sense of awkward tension when I perform and the lint gag WILL be used in my act. I also love the hack line about the card. It too fits my style perfectly. Thanks. I love what you teach. Keep it up!

I absolutely burst out laughing at the mint in the lint! This is something I’m definitely going to do it often and at the end I’ll pop it in my mouth to get the best reaction possible!

the scotch mint… made me, first Snort like a…. and burst into laughter…..woke my wife from her slumber. Then the pain… I had to explain what i was laughing about— eating toilet aromatics. Now that’s the genius, that is Jay SAnkey. Thanks for this one.

You are insane, haha. #1 The Glove! Hands down (see what I did there?) LOL I was about to “challenge” you to come up with a a trick using a condom! I kid you not, and you delivered a gag as if you read my mind! LOL Made me smile… again. Have a great day Jay.

My favourite gag was the gum from the pocket… I’m thinking what might make it even funnier is if once you find the piece of gum, you look around as if to check that nobody is watching, then chew the gum yourself. You could also have it wrapped in a nasty looking hanky.

It only *just* beat the scotch urinal mint gag because you can’t really do it during a routine unless you are performing a show in the toilets…

Anyway as always appreciate your perspective, and Jay do you have any of your old comedy routines uploaded somewhere cos I’d really like to see more

I loved the gum covered in lint, that was my favorite. Very funny it was so unexpected, it makes such a great gag. Watching this video really makes me consider putting more comedy into my routine. I don’t want to be the “serious magician” he who performs miracles and thinks he can walk on water lol any way thanks again for another awesome video.

I used similar to the card under your pillow trick during street magic, I usually place the card at the floor then tell everyone focus on the card don’t take your eyes of the card, something amazing will happen. then i walk away. it works really well when there are lots of people coming then just disappear amongst the crowd while they stare at the card.

Jay the card hack about card under the pillow… after they answer you can answer, ” No! You’ll tame it out and remember how much fun you had here. ” Then my closing line is, ” If you liked what you saw, I’m Mighty Mike if not, I’m ( insert famous Magician’s name ) THANK YOU , GOOD NIGHT. It just about always gets a laugh!
